We Need You at the Big Bike Lane Meeting 11/22

We haven’t seen many new bike lanes in Richmond since before the UCI championships, but if all goes well, we’re about to.

The city is holding a meeting about several new bike lane projects next Tuesday, November 22, 5 pm -7 pm, at the Richmond Main Library, 101 E. Franklin St.  Come even if you can’t arrive at 5.

This will be a crucial opportunity to weigh in on a total of EIGHT bike lane projects at various stages of design.  Getting these in the pipeline and getting them right could really be a game-changer for getting around by bike in Richmond.

In addition to making final adjustments to the design of a two-way separated lane (cycle track) on Franklin Street, the following projects will be up for discussion:

  • Brook Road
  • Westover Hills Blvd
  • Semmes Ave
  • Patterson Ave
  • Malvern Ave
  • Williamsburg Rd
  • Government Rd

There’s something for everybody here — and after all, biking in RVA is only as good as the lanes themselves and the overall network that they make up.  It’s also important that we show support for these projects: as always it’s quite possible that some if not all will encounter some opposition.

So mark your calendar and tell your friends!
